In unreconstituted (lyophilized) form, peptides are the most stable. When stored properly in a refrigerator (2–8°C), protected from light and moisture, they generally retain stability for up to 24 months.

At room temperature, peptides may retain stability for up to about 4 months, but refrigeration is recommended for optimal long-term stability.

Stability after reconstitution is drastically reduced, regardless of whether preservatives are present, as in ready-made peptide solutions.

Peptide bonds are susceptible to hydrolysis in the presence of water, which reduces quality. Under refrigerated conditions, the stability of a reconstituted peptide is around 4 weeks.
